Small Things We Can Start Today to Avoid Future Big Expenses
Regret always comes later. Overlooking small good habits often causes us big problem in the future. And to fix the problem, most of the time we need to pay a lot of money too.
Some things that we know causing older people spend a great deal of money can bring us awareness and trigger us to build small, free or low cost habit from our 20s to minimize the impact on our own lives.
1. Wear sunscreen everyday
Skin care and cosmetic expense (especially for woman) will increase significantly when we reach our 40s. We will need to buy expensive anti aging product to fight wrinkle and dark spot, or high quality foundation to cover them. We even might need to see the doctors to treat our aging skin, which will cost us decent amount of money.
In fact, most skin problems that appear while we are getting older such as wrinkles and freckles are highly impacted by UV radiation. If we keep our skin protected by wearing sunscreen everyday, although aging process will still degrade our skin condition, but the effect can be significantly minimized.
2. Keep teeth and gums healthy
Problem with teeth and gums requires us to pay quite a lot of money. In addition, teeth and gums related diseases are commonly not covered by health insurance. And once you lost your tooth, it won't grow back anymore.
Besides doing dental and oral care regularly, we should see the dentist and discuss if there is potential problem and how to treat it as early as possible. If needed, it's better to invest in braces to align your teeth so it would be easier to clean them thoroughly and make sure the bacteria won't thrive to the point of forming plaque. Also reduce sugar intake because sugar creates conditions in which acid-producing bacteria can flourish. This acid dissolves tooth enamel and causes dental cavities.
3. Maintain good metabolism
Nowadays many degenerative diseases appear too early because of modern lifestyle. As a result, we have to pay for routine medication to stabilize our bodily functions. If the diseases worsen, we might need hospital medication or even life support. Not to mention this condition will affect our productivity to work and gain income.
In fact, we all already know how to avoid too early degenerative disease. We need to maintain our metabolism that regulate all of our organs to function properly. Exercising, having a balanced diet, getting enough sleep, and drinking plenty of water, are things that are suggested everywhere but more often skipped because it is too simple right?
